What is your shipping policy?
We offer FREE DELIVERY on all products via a trusted Royal Mail service. All deliveries are tracked and we are notified of their arrival at their intended destination. When ordering your new Plates please appreciate the production time between your order and eventual dispatch and also allow time for the manufacturing and adhesive setting process as well as their journey in transit to you, for these reasons we usually operate a turnaround of around 10 days.
How can I get in touch if there is problem with my order?
If for any reason you have a concern to raise regarding your order, be it before or after receiving in the post then contact our enquiries email address enquiries@modmyplates.co.uk. We will respond and happily discuss your query in a timely manner via that medium. Please DO NOT attempt to respond/reply to your confirmation email as this is a no reply email address and an automated service.
Legality of our 4D Number Plates and 3D Gel Plates
We only use the regular 'Charles Wright Font' and adopt the prescribed spacing between characters(11mm between characters and 33mm genre gap) Please review the DVLA Government website for further reassurance - Government Number Plate Rules.
Furthermore, our 'Short Plates' are also in line with Road standards but please be aware that if you order “tinted” these are not a style in line with rules.
What size are standard UK number plates?
Standard UK number plates have dimensions of 520mm length by 110mm height, this is the standardised size you will witness on cars of UK roads, and can accommodate up to 7 Characters.
Are Tinted plates MOT compliant for road use?
The short answer is no unfortunately. That’s why we specifically state on every product description page that ‘tinted plates are sold as show plates’.
What size are ‘short plates’ by Mod My Plates?
All of our plates styles are offered as 'short plates' as well as the traditional standard UK number plate length of 520mm x 110mm.
We make your plates using 16 inch (402mm x 110) acrylic, we've got you covered for 6 letters or less.
How long do I have before I can cancel my order?
Your number/show plates are a manufactured as a bespoke item and are made especially to your tailoring. Mod My Plates try to ensure that we keep our all of customers happy with good turnover and delivery times, as a result of this, it is not possible to cancel or amend an order which has been manufactured. Please ensure that all details are correct before placing the order, if you believe you may have made a mistake with your order then please contact us as soon as possible and we will always endeavour to help.
What level of quality control do you uphold in the manufacturing of your products?
We adopt a human inspection process of quality control at several key stages of the manufacturing process, characters are checked for quality of cut and finish before application to the acrylic plate. Reflective backing is carefully applied using a machine to the plate to minimise imperfections. A final thorough QC check is undertaken once the plates are complete for tidiness of assembly and character alignment.
How should I apply my Plates?
We always recommend that you use the VHB(very high bond) adhesive sticky pads to avoid potentially damaging your plates if you were to drill. We have found that our plates can be applied to slightly arched bumper curves with the sticky pads suggested and that use of sticky pads is a much more aesthetically pleasing method of applying the plates. We recommend you purchase the sticky pads supplied by us, they are manufactured by Autoprint in the U.K. specifically for number plate adhesion, they are weather proof and durable.
Can I use punctuation/logos/instagram handles on my plate design from Mod My Plates?
At the moment we sadly do not accommodate requests for punctuation/logos/instagram handles on our Gel or 4D plates, this covers symbols such as underscores and the ‘@‘ for example.
Can I request custom printed text as an option at the bottom of my plate design?
We do not offer the option for printing of names or any other slogan at the bottom of your plates, primarily because this is unlawful and does not comply with new 2021 BSAU regulations. The space at the bottom of compliant road use plates should not feature personalisation, we have therefore ceased providing this service as demand has fallen for it.
